the issue of decriminalisation of politics as part of electoral
reforms is under consideration before this Court in Writ Petition
report
submitted in August 1974. Similarly, the Committee on
electoral reforms appointed by the Janata Dal Government, in
its report in May, 1990, favoured
taken up for serious consideration.
The issue was examined by the Electoral Reforms Committee
set up in 1990 under the Chairmanship of the then Minister
corruption from the electoral system of the country and not a
technical approach which would defeat the purpose of electoral reforms.
