An Act to repeal the Punjab Gram Punchayat Act, 1952 and the Punjab Panchayat Samities and Zilla Parishads Act, 1961 as in Force in the Union territory of Chandigrah.BE it enacted by Parliament in the Forty- fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

1. Short title and commencement.-

(1)This Act may be called the Punjab Gram Panchayat, Samities and Zilla Parishad (Chandigarh Repeal) Act, 1994 .
(2)It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.

2. Repeal of Punjab Acts 4 of 1953 and 3 of 1961 .-

The Punjab Gram Panchayat Act, 1952 and the Punjab Panchayat, Samities and Zilla Parishads Act, 1961 , in so far as they extend to and operate as part of the law of, the Union territory of Chandigarh, are hereby repealed.

3. Saving.-

Notwithstanding the repeal of the Punjab Gram Panchayat Act, 1952 Punjab Act 4 of 1953 . and the Punjab Panchayat Samities, and Zilla. Parishads. Act, 1961 punjab Act 3 of 1961 . (hereinafter referred to as repealed Acts) the repeal shall not,-(a) affect the previous operation of the repealed Acts or anything duly done or suffered thereunder; or
(b)affect any right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred under the repealed Acts; or
(c)affect any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed against repealed Acts, affect any investigation, legal proceedings or remedy in respect of any such right, privilege, obligation liability, penalty, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid, and any such investigation, legal proceeding or remedy may be instituted continued or enforced, and any such privilege, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed as if this Act had not been passed.
