Section 9(6) in The U.P. Pravidhik Shiksha (Admission Conduct of Examinations and Conferment of Certificates and Diplomas) Regulations, 1992
(6)Promotion to higher Class/semester shall be made on the following conditions :(a)For courses run on an annual basis for duration of three years or more-A candidate will be allowed to join 2nd or 3rd or 4th year class, as the case may be, only after he/she has passed all the subjects prescribed in first year and second year/third year respectively or is allowed to keep term as under Regulation 18.(b)For courses run on semester basis-A candidate will be allowed to join V or VI semester only after he/she has passed all the subjects prescribed in the first and second semester respectively.
