The Information Technology (Guidelines for Cyber Cafe) Rules, 2011 - Process of RegistrationPublished vide Notification New Delhi, the 16th March,2012Ministry of Communication and Information Technology(Department of Information Technology)G.S.R. 153(E). - In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 79 of the Information Technology Act, 2000 (21 of 2000) read with sub-rule(4) of rule 3 of the Information Technology (Guidelines for Cyber Cafe) Rules, 2011, the Central Government hereby specifies the process of registration to be followed by each Registration Agency as follows :-

The Cyber cafe shall, for its registration, submit the duly filled in form as specified in Schedule-I annexed, to the Registration Agency notified by the Appropriate Government.

The Registration Agency shall, after verifying the completeness of the form, register the cyber cafe with a unique registration number. The registration number shall be an alphanumeric code of eight characters with first two characters as the State or Union Territory code as specified in Schedule-II annexed and next six digits as running serial number. For instance, a cyber cafe registered in Maharashtra may have registration number as MH001234.

The list of cyber cafe along with its address and registration number shall be displayed on the website of the Registration Agency.
