Section 11 in Bachelor of Engineering and Technology, Bachelor of Pharmacy and Diploma in Pharmacy (Regulation of Admission and Payment of Fees) Rules, 2008

11. Preparation of Merit List.

- The merit list of the candidates who have applied for admission in the prescribed form, within the prescribed time limit and who are found eligible for admission under these rules, shall be prepared in the following manner, namely:-
(1)
(a)The candidates who have passed qualifying examination, sixty percentage of marks obtained in theory of the subjects in the respective group after converting it to 100 combined with the forty percentage of marks obtained in the subjects of the same group in the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET), after converting it to 100 from the total marks obtained, shall be the merit marks.
Explanation. - For the purpose of calculation of merit marks,-
(a)The marks obtained in the theory subjects of the respective group in the qualifying examination shall be converted to 100 marks and the sixty percent of such converted marks {i.e
{| | XY| x 100| }| (0.6), where the X is the marks obtained and Y is the total marks (maximum marks) in the qualifying examination).
(b)The marks obtained in relevant subjects of the Gujarat Common Entrance Test shall be converted to 100 marks and the forty percent of such converted marks {i.e
{| | AB| x 100| }| (0.4), where the A is the marks obtained and B is the total marks (maximum marks) in the Gujarat Common Entrance Test.
(c)The total of the (a) and (b) shall be the merit marks.
(2)The admission committee shall prepare and publish three separate merit lists, namely:-
(i)The first merit list shall include the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from the Gujarat Board. Merit list of reserved category candidates shall be prepared separately;
(ii)The second merit list shall include the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from the Central Board of Secondary Education. Merit list of reserved category candidates shall be prepared separately; and
(iii)The third merit list shall include the candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi or National Institute of Open Schooling or International Board. Merit list of reserved category candidates shall be prepared separately;
(iv)the available Seats shall be distributed on pro-rata basis taking into considerations the number of students passed from the boards mentioned in (i), (ii) and (iii) above, in the current academic year.
(3)The criteria for deciding merit order in case of students having equal merit marks shall be in the following sequence, namely:-
(a)For Engineering courses : Marks obtained in Mathematics in qualifying examination,
(b)For Pharmacy courses : Marks obtained in theory of Biology subject in qualifying examination. If Biology subject is not opted, marks obtained in Mathematics subject in the qualifying examination,
(c)Marks obtained in English subject in qualifying examination
(d)Aggregate marks obtained in qualifying examination (Standard 12), and
(e)Date of Birth (Candidate who is older in age shall be given priority).
