Section 13 in Punjab School Education Board (XIth Class Examination) Regulations, 1992

13. Pass Criteria.

(a)
(i)A student shall be deemed to have passed the examination, if he gets atleast 33% marks individually in two compulsory subjects and three elective subjects in case of Humanities, Science or Agriculture Groups and in four compulsory subjects in case of Commerce and all Groups of vocational stream
(ii)For subject/s involving oral/practical work, a candidate must obtain atleast 33% marks in the theory and practical separately in order to qualify the subject/s.
If a candidate who is placed under compartment or reappear in the Matriculation Examination, fails to clear the compartment/reappear subjects/subjects within the prescribed period, his result for the [XIth class shall be cancelled and he shall not be promoted to the Senior Secondary class.] [Amended vide item No. 6 dated 6.8.1993.]
(iii)If a candidate has offered an additional subject alongwith the three elective subjects from the same group (Humanities and Agriculture groups), the marks obtained by him in three best elective subjects will be counted while declaring his result.
(iv)Any elective subject, if offered as an additional subject can substitute for another elective subject if a candidate fails in one of the main elective subjects offered, but passed in additional elective subject offered, provided that such a substitution shall not be permissible in Science group.
(v)Any permanently disabled candidate who cannot take practical examination on account of physical disability may be exempted from appearing in the practical examination. The marks obtained by him in the theory papers shall be increased proportionately. Such a candidate is required to produce a certificate of such disability from the civil surgeon of his district.
(b)Grace Marks. - If a candidate fails in one or more subjects and the total deficiency is not more than 1% of the aggregate marks, he shall be given these marks to make up the deficiency without regard to the number of subjects in which it is required in order to be declared pass.
(c)[ Change of stream after passing the examination. - A candidate who has passed the XIth class examination from any institution affiliated with the Board or any equivalent examination may again seek admission in the XIth class, as a regular student, in any institution affiliated with the Board and opt for a new stream not already passed by him. Such a candidate shall clear all the subjects of the new stream in order to pass the examination.
