Section 7 in The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board's Sewerage Regulations, 1988

7. Materials.

(a)Cement: Portland cement shall comply with the Indian Standard Specification for this material.
(b)Cement Mortar: Cement mortar shall consist of one part Portland cement and three parts sharp sand measured by volume thoroughly mixed with a proper proportion of clean water.
(c)Brickwork: Brick work shall be constructed of well burnt, hard, sound and truly shaped bricks laid in cement mortar and properly bonded.
(d)Concrete: Cement concrete shall be composed of one part portland cement, three parts clean sharp sand and six parts (measured by volume) clean hard broken stone. The broken stone to be of size which will pass through 40mm sieve and thoroughly mixed with a proper proportion of clean water.
(e)Pipes and Fittings: All pipes, fittings arid fixtures shall be of lead, Galvanized iron, Cast Iron, Poly Vinyl Chloride, High Density Polyethyene, Salt glazed Stoneware, Asbestos, cement, glazed sanitary ware as may be approved by the authorised authority. All pipes, fittings and fixtures shall comply with the requirements of the relevant Indian Standard Specification or such other specifications as may be prescribed by the authorised authority.
