Section 12 in The Bidhan Chandra Krishi (Viswavidyalaya) Act, 1974.
12. [ The Faculty Councils for post-graduate and undergraduate studies - (1) There shall be the following Faculty Councils for postgraduate and undergraduate studies] [Section 12 substituted by W. B. Act 31 of 1981]: -
(a)the Faculty Council for Post-Graduate and undergraduate studies in Agriculture;(b)[ the Faculty Council for Post-graduate and Undergraduate Studies in Horticulture] [Clause (b) substituted clauses (c), (d), (ia), (iva), (ivb) inserted by W.B. Act 21 of 1996.];(c)[ the faculty Council for Post-graduate and Undergraduate Studies in Agricultural Engineering] [Clause (b) substituted clauses (c), (d), (ia), (iva), (ivb) inserted by W.B. Act 21 of 1996.];(d)[ such other Faculty Council as the University may, with the prior approval of the State Government, establish] [Clause (b) substituted clauses (c), (d), (ia), (iva), (ivb) inserted by W.B. Act 21 of 1996.].(2)Each Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies shall consist of the following members: -(i)the Vice-Chancellor, Chairman;(ia)[ the Dean of the Faculty, Vice-Chairman] [Clause (b) substituted clauses (c), (d), (ia), (iva), (ivb) inserted by W.B. Act 21 of 1996.];(ii)the Dean, Post-Graduate Studies;(iii)the Director of Research;(iv)the Director of Extension;(iva)[ the Campus Director] [Clause (b) substituted clauses (c), (d), (ia), (iva), (ivb) inserted by W.B. Act 21 of 1996.];(ivb)[ the Associate Dean] [Clause (b) substituted clauses (c), (d), (ia), (iva), (ivb) inserted by W.B. Act 21 of 1996.];(v)the Heads of the Departments concerned;(vi)three teachers, of whom at least one shall be in the rank of Professor, where there is a Professor, from each Department of the Faculty concerned elected jointly by such teachers;(vii)two persons having special knowledge in the subject or subjects concerned nominated by the Vice-Chancellor.(3)Each Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies shall have a Secretary to be appointed by the Executive Council.(4)One-third of the total number of members of a Faculty Council for post-graduate and undergraduate studies plus one shall be a quorum for a meeting of the Faculty Council.(5)[ The term of office of the elected or nominated members of a Faculty Council for Post-graduate and Undergraduate Studies shall be four years] [Sub-section (5) inserted by W.B.
