Section 36 in The Orissa Boiler Operation Engineers' Rules, 2000

36.

(1)A candidate for a 1st Class certificate of proficiency as a Boiler Operation Engineer shall not be less than 24 years of age and shall not be admitted to the examination unless he possesses -
(i)a degree from a recognised. University or a certificate of passing Sections A and B of the AMIE Examination recognised by the Institution of Engineers of India in mechanical or electrical or instrumentation Engineering;
(ii)not less than 2 years training in operation and maintenance of boilers and auxiliaries of an Industry/Power Station; and
(iii)not less than 3 years practical experience in operation of boilers having heating surface not less than 1000 (one thousand) Sq. meters.
(2)A candidate for a 2nd Class certificate of proficiency as a Boiler Operation Engineer shall not be less than 24 years of age and shall not be admitted to the examination unless he possesses-
(i)a degree or a certificate of passing Sections A and B of the AMIE Examination recognised by the Institution of Engineers of India or a diploma in mechanical or electrical or instrumentation Engineering;
(ii)not less than two years training in operation and maintenance of boilers and auxiliaries of an industry/Power Station; and
(iii)not less than 5 years practical experience in operation of boilers having heating surface not less than 100 (one hundred) meters.
(3)A candidate for a restricted Certificate of proficiency as a Boiler Operation Engineer for operation of waste heat boilers which are an integral part of a process plant of a continuous flow installation, shall not be less than 24 years of age and shall not be admitted to the Examination unless he possesses.
(i)a degree from a recognised University or a certificate of passing Sections A and B of the AMIE Examination recognised by the Institution of India in mechanical or electrical or instrumentation or chemical engineering;
(ii)not less than one year training in operation and maintenance of waste heat boilers which are an integral part of a process plant of a continuous flow installation; and
(iii)not less than 3 years practical experience in operation and maintenance of waste heat boilers which are an integral part of a process plant of a continuous flow installation.
