Section 2 in The Rajasthan Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur Act, 2000
2. Definitions.
- In this Act and all Statutes and Regulations made thereunder, unless the context otherwise requires,-(a)"Academic Council" means the Academic Council of the University;(aa)[ "affiliated collage" means a collage or institute admitted to the privileges of the University;] [Inserted by Act No. 18 of 2015, dated 24.4.2015.](b)"agriculture" includes the basic and applied sciences of,-(i)soil and water management;(ii)crop improvement and production;(iii)horticulture, i.e. fruits, vegetables, floriculture, spices and medicinal plants;(iv)veterinary science and animal husbandry, dairy and food science, and animal products technology;(v)fisheries;(vi)forestry, farm forestry, forest management and silviculture;(vii)engineering and technology;(viii)post-harvest technology including processing and marketing;(ix)land use planning and management;(x)sericulture including mulberry culture;(xi)apiculture;(xii)home science;(xiii)basic sciences and humanities in relation to agriculture; and(xiv)subjects pertaining to agricultural technology and rural development;(c)"Associate Dean" or "Principal" means Head of the constituent College of the University;(d)"Associate Director" means Associate Director of Research and Extension in Zonal/Regional Station or in the Headquarters of the University;(e)"Authority" means any authority of the University as specified in this Act;(f)"Board" means Board of Management of the University;(g)"College" means a constituent college of the University under its direct control and management whether located at the Headquarter campus or elsewhere;(h)"Chancellor" means Chancellor of the University;(i)"Comptroller" means Comptroller of the University;(j)"Dean" means Dean of the subject matter Faculty and the Faculty of Post Graduate Studies;(k)"Director" means Director of Resident Instruction, Director of Research and Director of Extension Education;(l)"Extension Education Council" means Extension Education Council of the University;(m)"Faculty" means Faculty in the University as specified in this Act and the Statutes;(n)"Government" means the Government of the State of Rajasthan;(o)"Governor" means the Governor of the State of Rajasthan;(p)"Head" means Head of the Department/Division of the University;(q)"hostel" means a place of residence for students of the University maintained or recognised by the University either as part of or separate from the University;(r)"officer" means an officer of the University as specified in this Act, or other person (s) in the employment of the University declared as officer by the Statutes;(s)"prescribed" means as prescribed by the Statutes of the University;(t)"Registrar" means Registrar of the University;(u)"Regulations" means the regulations made under section 40 of this Act;(v)"Research Council" means Research Council of the University;(w)"Statutes" means the Statutes of the University governing matters of policy procedure etc. as set forth in sections 38 of this Act;(x)"student" means the person enrolled in the University for taking a course of study for a degree, diploma or other academic distinction;(y)"teacher" means a person not below the rank of Assistant Professor appointed or recognised by the University for the purpose of imparting instructions and/or conducting and guiding research and/or extension education programmes, and includes any other person who may be declared by the Statutes to be a teacher;(z)[ "University" means the Maharana Pratap University of Agricultural and Technology Udaipur as constituted under this Act;] [Substituted by Rajasthan Act No. 18 of 2000.](za)"Vice-Chancellor" means Vice-Chancellor of the University;(zb)"Zonal Station/Regional Station" means Zonal/Regional Station of the University.
