Section 33 in Punjab Boiler Operation Engineers' Rules, 2001

33. Qualifications required.

(1)A candidate for a First Class Certificate of Proficiency as a Boiler Operation Engineer shall not be less than twenty four years of age and shall not be admitted to an examination unless he possesses :-
(a)a degree in mechanical or electrical engineering recognised by the Institution of Engineers (India) for the purpose of exemption from sections A and B of the Associate Member of Institution of Engineers (India) Examination (A.M.I.E.);
(b)not less than two years' training in operation and maintenance of boilers and auxiliaries of an industry or power station; and
(c)not less than three years practical experience in operation of boilers having heating surface of not less than one thousand square metres.
(2)A candidate for a Second Class Certificate of Proficiency as a Boiler Operation Engineer shall not be less than twenty three years of age and shall not be admitted to an examination unless he possesses :-
(a)a diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering recognised by the Institution of Engineers (India) for exemption from their studentship examination;
(b)not less than one year's training in operation and maintenance of boilers and auxiliaries of any industry or power station; and
(c)not less than three years' practical experience in operation of boilers having heating surface of not less than one hundred square metres.
(3)A candidate for a restricted certificate of proficiency as a Boiler Operation Engineer for operation of Waste heat boilers shall be issued in Form 'B' appended to the rules, mentioning clearly on the top of certificate "Restricted Certificate for Waste heat boilers only" which are an integral part of a process plant of a continuous flow installation. A candidate for such a certificate shall not be less than twenty four years of age and shall not be admitted to the examination unless he possesses :-
(a)a degree in mechanical or electrical or chemical engineering recognised by the Institution of Engineers (India) for exemption from sections A and B of the Associate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) Examination; and
(b)not less than one year's training and three years' practical experience in operation and maintenance of Waste heat boilers which are an integral part of a process plant of a continuous flow installation.
